Senior Traveling Refrigeration Installation Lead A growing engineering and manufacturing company specializing in controlled environment and cold storage systems is seeking a Traveling Installation Technician / Field Team Lead to lead installation projects across the United States. Projects are typically completed in research labs, pharmaceutical facilities, industrial plants, and specialized cold storage environments. Who This Role Is Perfect For This role is ideal for technicians who: - Have 2+ years of HVAC/R or refrigeration experience - Are comfortable traveling during the week but want to be home every weekend - Enjoy hands-on installation work plus team leadership Why Technicians Like This Role - Home every weekend - Trips usually 3–4 nights - Overtime + paid travel time - $2/hour premium while traveling - Company covers all travel expenses - you earn flight miles - Company credit card provided - Annual bonuses typically 7–15% Travel Schedule - Nationwide travel required - Most trips are Monday–Wednesday, Tuesday–Thursday, or Monday–Thursday - 3–4 nights per trip typical - Employees are home on weekends - Five-day trips are rare - Very occasional Sunday travel (1–2 times per year) may be required Travel mix: - ~65% driving - ~35% flying Company vehicles are provided when driving. Compensation - Competitive hourly base wage - $2/hour travel premium while on the road - Overtime paid as applicable - Travel time is paid Field teams typically work 10-hour days while traveling, and because travel time is paid, overtime earnings can be significant. Annual bonuses typically range 7–15% of total compensation (currently discretionary while a structured plan is being developed). Responsibilities - Install controlled environment rooms and refrigeration systems - Install insulated panel systems and refrigeration equipment - Perform electrical wiring and controls connections - Assist with piping, brazing, evacuation, charging, and system testing - Perform startup and commissioning - Coordinate work with project managers - Ensure installations meet safety and quality standards - Train and mentor junior technicians Required Experience - Cold storage or refrigeration systems a plus - Experience working with 208–460 voltage - Ability to read electrical schematics and wiring diagrams - Strong troubleshooting skills - Valid driver's license - Ability to travel nationwide Preferred Experience - Supermarket or grocery refrigeration systems - Walk-in cooler/freezer installation - Controls wiring (sensors, relays, PLC inputs) - Brazing certification - OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 - Refrigeration commissioning/startup experience #IND4
