Overview:

A well-established transportation and logistics organization is seeking a senior-level accounting leader to oversee Accounting and Billing functions. This role reports directly to the VP of Finance and plays a key part in financial reporting, operational alignment, and executive-level decision support. The company offers a collaborative, family-friendly culture with schedule flexibility.

Key Responsibilities:

- Maintain a deep understanding of financial reporting and general ledger structures across multiple entities

- Analyze monthly financial statements and present insights to executive leadership

- Support and participate in the monthly close process and financial statement preparation

- Prepare and manage governmental, regulatory, and insurance filings and compliance reporting

- Oversee Accounts Payable operations and processing

- Collaborate in operational and KPI-focused meetings

- Respond to executive inquiries regarding financial performance and analysis

- Assist in managing banking relationships and key vendor partnerships

- Prepare insurance audits and support renewal processes

- Lead and supervise Accounting and Billing teams; provide cross-functional support as needed

- Participate in Accounts Receivable and Collections discussions

- Coordinate and prepare schedules for annual audits with external firms

- Partner with Finance leadership on securing equipment financing

- Resolve cross-departmental issues impacting billing or accounting processes

- Oversee annual 1099 preparation

- Perform additional financial and administrative duties as required

Qualifications:

Education:

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (required)

Experience & Skills:

- 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including team leadership

- Strong financial analysis capabilities with advanced Excel skills

- Experience managing multi-entity environments and intercompany transactions

- Proven ability to manage deadlines, multitask, and maintain accuracy under pressure

- Strong written and verbal communication skills

- Highly organized with strong problem-solving abilities

- Team-oriented mindset with a hands-on approach

Preferred:

- Experience with AS/400 and/or QuickBooks

- Background in trucking or transportation industry
