Job description
Location: Columbus, Mississippi Employment type: Direct Hire Source: PEG Staffing job board (Bullhorn job 4106) We are seeking an experienced Tool & Die Maker to support precision manufacturing operations through the design, build, modification, and maintenance of tooling and dies. This role plays a critical part in ensuring production efficiency, quality, and equipment reliability by translating engineering concepts into functional metal tooling. In this position, you will work directly with machining equipment to fabricate and refine dies and tooling components, diagnose tooling-related issues during production, and perform repairs or adjustments as needed. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, deep metalworking knowledge, and the ability to visualize and execute complex tooling solutions from concept through testing. Key Responsibilities - Design, build, modify, and repair dies and tooling to support production - Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and specifications - Set up and operate machining equipment including lathes, mills, grinders, and drill presses - Measure, cut, shape, fit, and assemble tooling components to precise tolerances - Inspect tooling for accuracy, finish, and performance - Troubleshoot tooling and equipment issues during press operations - Perform die maintenance, adjustments, and test runs to ensure proper function - Support production needs including die setting and related shop tasks Qualifications - Training or experience in tool and die, machining, or mechanical engineering - Proven experience in tool and die making or precision machining - Strong knowledge of metalworking processes and machine tools - Ability to read and interpret technical drawings - Experience with quality inspection and tolerance verification - Strong troubleshooting skills and attention to detail - Ability to safely operate heavy equipment and perform physical tasks
